Reservations: Try to reserve 21 days out, right when reservations open up (at 10AM). If you can get on Resy just before 10AM and the site doesn’t freeze up on you, you may have a shot at getting the reservation you want (smaller parties are easier). They fill up quickly so if you miss 10AM set up some notifys. I had several come through for last minute 5PMish reservations. I highly recommend booking just before sunset.
Experience: Laser Wolf may be worth it for the view alone. It sits on the rooftop of The Hoxton hotel and no matter where you sit you will enjoy the views of the East River. They are technically a (covered) outdoor space with an open grill and fans in lieu of AC, so I would avoid coming here in the throes of summer. If you have to go during the summer months, I suggest a late dinner to avoid the sun.
Food: There are essentially two aspects to the menu: Salatim, a family style tray of vegetables with hummus at the center, and a skewer of meat or fish. These two simple concepts are enhanced by strong seasoning, pickling and charcoal grilling. The pre-fixe menu is recommended but not required, so for the price you see next to your skewer options, you get one hefty skewer and unlimited Salatim. This makes Laser Wolf a great option for vegetarians as most of the flavor and variety comes from the different types of vegetables. I also highly recommend the Date-Harissa Wings to start. But save room, the Brown Butter Soft Serve is arguably the best bite of the night.
Who to Bring: Laser Wolf technically has something for everyone, but the heavy focus on vegetables doesn’t make it the best open for carnivores. Tastes aside, anyone would appreciate the spectacular view.
What to Wear: Sitting on a rooftop seems to call for an elevated look, but Laser Wolf is surprisingly casual. The waiters are in Gen Z attire, complete with baggy jeans and rectangular sunglasses, constantly reminding you that you’re in Williamsburg. And if you know anything about Brooklyn, you can wear pretty much whatever you want.
