Reservations: They do not take reservations for breakfast so get here early. I recommend arriving right when they open at 8AM, and definitely before 8:30AM. My party of two arrived at 8:10AM on a Saturday morning and were able to snag one of the last two tables (there were a few bar seats left as well). We left around 9 and there was a line halfway down the block.
Experience: They have an interesting system where you place your order at the counter first, then take a number and find a table. This worked when there were open tables but I’m not sure how it goes once you have a long line. This also means very little interaction with the staff, which was fine with me. If you’re the type that likes thorough service with recommendations, etc. this wouldn’t be the spot for you.
Food: Salt’s Cure is a great place for a simple, well rounded breakfast. I recommend The Classic plate if it’s your first time, which will get you eggs, breakfast meat (I loved the chicken sausage), and the famous Oatmeal Griddle (pan)cakes. The pancakes are a must and are perfect for anyone who thinks pancakes are “too sweet.” The Apple was good but the OG was way better. That being said, I don’t think the pancakes are worth waiting longer than 45 minutes. These are not Golden Diner two hour pancakes.
Who to Bring: Salt’s Cure is perfect for an early riser who loves a simple, no frills breakfast. This is not a place for boozy brunch. I think it’s a good option for the ‘rents IF you can get them here by 8AM. Otherwise you will have them complaining in your ear about the hour long wait.
What to Wear: This is a diner through and through so keep it comfy.
